Entertainment Planned Inside Bethesda Parking Garages
T
he Bethesda Chamber of Secrets (BCS) is working on a plan to relieve traffic congestion by offering services and entertainment to customers while they look for parking.
“Customers will never have to leave the garage,” said Judith C., a BCS spokeswoman. “This is the key to solving our parking problems. We entertain people while they are in their cars. The garage itself becomes the destination.”
The plan for roving entertainers includes stand-up comics, Ringling Brothers-trained clowns, a string quartet, and belly dancers. The Chamber is also looking at introducing food services. “Instead of whining about getting out of the car,” says Judith, “children will beg for a ride around the garage.”
Similar to the 1950s diners where people pulled up in a car and a waitress on roller skates brought the food order, the BCS is exploring the viability of having meter-readers serve food to parking lot patrons.
“I can hear it now,” said Judith: “Here’s your $40 ticket and $6 burger to go!’ It’s music to our ears.”
