Gifford’s Makes Bold Move, Gives New Flavor Unusual Name

“It’s a way to show we’re keeping up with the times,” says Irene P., Gifford’s regional sales VP. “The days when peppermint stick was our most innovative flavor are in the past.”

What does the new flavor consist of?

“Its beauty is in its simplicity,” says Irene.  “It’s vanilla ice cream, because people love vanilla.  And what else do they love?  Chocolate.  So we put them together.”

According to Irene, the vanilla contains large pieces of dark chocolate, shaped “sort of squarish.”  Instead of chips, they are called “clumps.” In the olden days, this flavor might have been called “vanilla-chocolate clump.”  But since simple flavor names that say what’s actually in the ice cream are passé, the Gifford’s marketing team worked intensively to come up with a flavor name that’s up-to-date.

Says Irene, “I’m pleased to announce the name of our new flavor is:

“Bob.”

Customers are invited to try a free sample of “Bob” through the end of the month.

“We’re confident that anyone who tries a spoonful of Bob will be left wanting more,” says Irene.
