‘Madonna of the Trail’ Statue to be Resculpted

In a press conference held earlier this week, Bethesda Chamber of Secrets officials announced that the longtime downtown fixture, “Madonna of the Trail” is to be resculpted this year.

“She’s just so dowdy,” said spokesperson Fran Collingsworth. “Frankly, I’m surprised it didn’t happen years ago. I mean, look at her, does she say Bethesda? The hat, especially, is disturbing, so dated. We’re thinking of something in the Talbots or Saks vein for the body, and of course she will need facial contouring. We’re contracting with a dermatological stone mason for that part. She’s going to need skin resurfacing, injectable fillers, eye lift, and possibly lipo.”

The resculpting is scheduled to take about five months, but there will be something to look at while the work is being done. The Center has decided to position an electronic parking pay station on the site.

“It’s only temporary,” said Gallagher, his fingers crossed behind his back. “Besides, what says Bethesda more than a place to pay for parking?”

When asked which parking lot the pay station will serve, Gallagher explained that “It will be a tribute to the pay station, a wonder of modern innovation. As a result, it will not work properly. You’ll want to go through an attendant for that.”

This dude declares Demi decidedly less dowdy than doomed ‘donna! Definitely.
